Looking to give your little one a head start for Kindergarten, even if it’s years away? A love of reading doesn’t have to wait until your child steps through the doors of their Kindergarten room.
The ability to read has been linked with academic success in school, and even reading to your newborn has long term benefits. It can be a bonding experience for your family. It also teaches children the building blocks of language– the alphabet and their shapes.
Reading to your child prepares your little one for their first year of school with confidence. This is why Taylor Community Library is pleased to re-launch our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Our program gives you the tools you need to raise your little one to be a lifelong reader.
Simply create an account on our reader website. There, you can record and track your progress and earn prizes on your way to reading 1000 books!
While it may seem overwhelming to read 1000 books, it’s not as tricky as it would seem. If you read…
3 books/day for 1 year = 1,095 books
1 book/day for 3 years = 1,095 books
Read the same book multiple times and it still counts toward your total. You can read their favorite books again and again, every time your little one asks, knowing that it adds to their growth and learning.
