DESCRIPTION:4H: Garden to Table Workshop\nIn this hands-on program supported by the Michigan State University 4-H Extension program\, youth will explore the journey of food from seed to plate! Participants will learn how to plant and care for a garden\, harvest fresh produce\, and turn their homegrown ingredients into simple\, healthy meals. Activities promote teamwork\, environmental awareness\, and healthy living through fun and engaging gardening and cooking experiences. This program is for youth ages 10 – 17. The courses are: \nJune 20\, 2-3:30pm Plant It\, Grow It\, Eat It! Youth will learn the basics of gardening\, including how to start seeds\, transplant seedlings\, and care for plants. Participants will create their own mini container gardens to take home\, using herbs or veggies that are easy to grow.  \nJuly 25\, 4-5:30pm Harvest & Snack! Participants will explore how to identify when produce is ripe and ready to harvest. They’ll pick garden-grown fruits and vegetables\, learn about their nutritional value\, and prepare a sample. \nAugust 22\, 4-5:30pm Keep it Fresh! DESCRIPTION:Bark for Books\nCelebrate reading month with our favorite furry friends. Read aloud to a trained therapy dog for 15 minutes. Children and teens can also use their 15 minutes to practice book reports or speeches for school\, or whatever you think will build their confidence in their reading and speaking skills. There are 16 slots open to read or speak aloud to a therapy dog and registration is required. They love to hear all the stories and get all the pets\, so call or stop in the library to sign up starting 10 a.m. May 8! \n*Registration Required

DESCRIPTION:Family Yoga\nJoin Mrs. Carissa for a family yoga class. This class is open to children and their caregivers and we will practice movement and finding our breath in different Yoga poses. If you are between the ages of 12-17 you do not need a caregiver to accompany you\, but they are more than welcome to join. Please bring your own yoga mat if possible. We do have 10 yoga mats for use\, but they will be handed out on a first-come-first-served basis.

We will meet at one of the front Community Rooms the second Monday of every month\, from 3:00-4:00pm.  Everyone will be given a prompt\, and your job will be to take this prompt to find words on signs\, pictures\, artwork\, book spines\, overheard phrases/quotes\, etc. on library grounds and write them down.  When everyone has something\, they will come back to the room and we will put together what we have found.

There is no limit to how many puzzles you can drop off or take home. \nTHE FINE PRINT: Please only donate puzzles that have all their pieces to the best of your knowledge. DESCRIPTION:T(w)een Book Club\nT(w)een Book Club is a monthly book club suggested for tweens and teens ages 12-17 where we will read age-appropriate titles from all genres\, have a snack\, and do a book-related activity! \nCopies of our monthly book will be placed on hold and can be picked up from our front desk before our meeting. Most of the time they are also available on Hoopla or Libby \nWe will take time to share thoughts on the book and chat about our general reading interests! \nThis month’s book is Buzzing by Samuel Sattin \n \nIsaac Itkin can’t get away from his thoughts. \nAs a lonely twelve-year-old kid with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)\, everything from studying to looking in the mirror becomes a battle between him and a swarm of unhelpful thoughts. \nThe strict therapy his mother insists on doesn’t seem to be working\, but when a group of friends invites him to join their after-school role-playing game\, the thoughts feel a little less loud\, and the world feels a little brighter. \nBut Isaac’s therapist says that exposure to games can have negative effects on kids with OCD\, and when his grades slip\, his helicopter mother won’t let him play anymore. Now Isaac needs to find a way to prove to himself\, to his mother\, and to the world that the way to quiet the noise in his head may have been inside him all along.
