Most of the time they are also available on Hoopla or Libby \nWe will take time to share thoughts on the book and chat about our general reading interests! \nThis month’s book is Lunar Boy by Jacinta Wibowo. \n \nIndu\, a boy from the moon\, feels like he doesn’t belong. He hasn’t since he and his adoptive mom disembarked from their spaceship—their home—to live on Earth with their new blended family. The kids at school think he’s weird\, he has a crush on his pen pal who might not like him back\, and his stepfamily doesn’t seem to know what to do with him. Worst of all\, Indu can’t even talk to his mom about how he’s feeling because she’s so busy. \nIn a moment of loneliness\, Indu calls out to the moon\, begging them to take him back. And against all odds\, the moon hears him and agrees to bring him home on the first day of the New Year. But as the promised day draws nearer\, Indu finds friendship in unlikely places and discovers that home is more than where you come from. And when the moon calls again\, Indu must decide: Is he willing to give up what he’s just found?

We will meet at one of the front Community Rooms the second Monday of every month\, from 3:00-4:00pm.  Everyone will be given a prompt\, and your job will be to take this prompt to find words on signs\, pictures\, artwork\, book spines\, overheard phrases/quotes\, etc. on library grounds and write them down.  When everyone has something\, they will come back to the room and we will put together what we have found.

DESCRIPTION:Bark for Books\nPractice your reading skills by reading aloud to a trained therapy dog for 15 minutes. You can even practice presentations in front of them! From practicing speeches or book reports to just reading your favorite book aloud\, these dogs love to hear stories and get a ton of pets. We will have two therapy dogs to read to from 5:00-7:00p.m. so\, call or stop in the library to sign up for a time to meet these patient puppers. Registration begins January 9 at 10a.m. and we have 16 spots open. \n*Registration Required
