Not Swamp Gas – The True Story of the 1966 UFO
In March of 1966 something mysterious was seen in the night skies over Southeastern Michigan. In Dexter, residents described floating discs in the night sky. Hillsdale College students reported strange lights flying over the dorms. Walter Cronkite reported the story on the national news and then-Congressman Gerald Ford called for an investigation. J. Allen Hynek, a U.S. Air Force consultant, sent to investigate the sightings, determined that “swamp gas,” the methane released from marshy land caused the phenomenon. Many witnesses disputed the findings. After 55 years of secrecy, a senior Air Force officer and highly-decorated fighter-interceptor pilot broke his silence to tell the truth about the world-famous UFO event. Using official government documents, recorded pilot testimony, and years of research, author and retired Air Force Engineer, Ray Szymanski, blew the lid off the Government’s highly questionable “marsh gas” explanation, then replaced it with the truth from the pilot who lived it. Mr. Szymanski believes pilot testimony that he recorded and official records he analyzed prove that the Dexter and Hillsdale UFO sightings were not swamp gas, but something otherworldly – and he will prove it during his presentation on 16 October at the Taylor Library.
For those interested, a book signing will follow the presentation, with copies available for purchase.
