We love books at Taylor Community Library and we love to share them with our community. Literacy is so important during this time, so we’re looking to make it just a little easier with our new initiative – Tiny Taylor Libraries!
Reading is an important part of education and wellness, it’s also fun. Reading is an activity that can foster our imaginations, open our minds, and improve our vocabulary. And during a time when outside stressors weigh on our daily lives, it can also keep our spirits up. We want to promote the benefits of reading within our neighborhoods.
Very soon, you will be able to peruse a variety of donated library books in our specially made tiny libraries throughout Taylor. Be prepared to see them in parks, at your local community centers and businesses, and maybe even on your very own block.
But we can’t do it without YOU! The Tiny Taylor Libraries can only thrive with help from the community. Here are some ways that you can help Tiny Taylor Libraries become a reality.
Donate!
Want to build a cabinet or donate money to purchase a cabinet for a local park? Contact us to make it happen. This is a great scouting or classroom project or a meaningful way to memorialize someone who has passed away. We’ll provide ongoing support for your Tiny Taylor Library donation and, as a bonus, you’ll receive a special plaque commemorating your donation.
Got a houseful of gently used books that need new homes? Once a month, we’ll be accepting book donations to help stock the Tiny Taylor Libraries. Check our event calendar for the next day we are able to accept donations. Bring them to the library on the specified date/time and our volunteers will stock the Tiny Taylor Libraries with books free for the community to read.
Join our network!
If you are already running a little free library at your home or business, you can register your information with us and we will help support you as a part of the Tiny Taylor Library Network. As a member, you will be given library swag to help connect your users to even more learning experiences along with opportunities to collect donated books from the library for your cabinet.
For a limited time, we are providing TWO professionally-made library cabinets to individuals and businesses in Taylor. If you have always wanted to host a little free library on your block, fill out our application form by December 10 for a chance to be selected. Awardees will be announced in mid-December.
Volunteer!
Want to be a part of the process? Sign up to be a volunteer at Taylor Community Library! We are now taking applications for volunteers interested in becoming Tiny Taylor Library Caretakers for library cabinets hosted in parks and other public spaces. Volunteers will help fill the cabinets with new materials and help us keep our Tiny Taylor Libraries looking great. To sign up, fill out our volunteer application and a staff member will follow up with more details.
So, join us! Tiny Taylor Libraries are a great way to bring reading right to your front door and help beautify our neighborhoods. When you sign up with us through our online application, you will get the support you need to thrive and for a limited time, you’ll have the chance to get a Tiny Taylor Library for your home or business for free.
